Love Languages- Receiving Gifts #LoveBlog

Hi there!

Today's #LoveBlog linkup topic is about one of the 5 Love Languages; today's love language is "Receiving Gifts."


Now, if you don't know about the 5 Love Languages, I highly recommend you read THIS book, AND you can go to their website and take the online quiz and find out what love languages are most important to you (they're all important to a certain extent, but we all have different ways that we feel most loved and how we like to love others)

Funnily enough, receiving gifts has always been my lowest score on my love languages quiz. I don't consider myself to be a material person, and I know what it's like to have holidays come up and neither you or your significant other have spending money for frivolous gift giving. For me, I am appreciative of gifts because it shows the other person spent time to get it, time to figure out what I would like, and possibly time making it! Quality time is a higher love language on my list, so that's how I interpret gifts. 

That being said, I love guessing what present I'm going to get if it's my birthday or Christmas (especially when you see your present under the tree and you try to figure out what it is based on the size and weight and box shape; my Dad calls me "Girl who likes to know," so that probably plays into that!). I also love giving a gift if I know the recipient is going to absolutely love it! I like taking the time to find them the perfect gift.

Social Butterfly

Hello darlings :) I'm linking up with Sunday Social! (Because, my friends here in Texas say I'm the social butterfly who knows everybody, and introduces everyone to everyone; it's kinda true. I like people!)

Here we go! Question answering time :)

1. What is the name of your blog and how did you come up with it? 
"This Journey of Journeys" started about a year ago. I'd have to look at the first post to remember when exactly. I've had other blogs that pertained to specific events in my life, but I wanted a more "generic" blog that dealt with every aspect of life. We're all on journeys, life IS a journey, and I write about mine. I just hope someone else can gain insight into life, and into their own journey.


2. What do you love most about blogging?
I've always loved writing, and in my "spare time" (HA) I love to write stories. It's always therapeutic for me to write. Blogging, however, is wonderful because I can share and relate to other women. It's a wonderful media, and great friendships happen because of blogging! Such a blessing :)

3. What are your 2 favorite posts you've written?
Erm.... "I Fell In Love" on Emmy's blog and "That Boy" on mine. ;)

4. What is something you'd want to tell someone just starting out in blog world?
Reach out! It's so scary to start out, but joining linkups, commenting and messaging bloggers, is a great way to meet new friends!

5. Biggest blogging learning experience you've had?
How to cope (hehe) with HTML code. I'm still learning it....but I am proud of the small knowledge I DO have!

Tomorrow I start week 3 of school (or uni, as my friend says ;) ). On Wednesday I have a birthday (September 12)...weird. I'll be 19! 52 weeks left of being a teenager ;)

Texas Is Hot

Hello!!!
Can it be? Is it she?

Yes, my friends; I'm posting!
I apologize for the lack of posts; I guess that's what happens when you move and start college. Mamma mia! Life is crazy busy! But I am in love with music, life, and my Lord!

Some quick thoughts (because I do need to get to sleep early, hehe)

*I love being a vocal performance major at the University of Houston Moores School of Music :) I have mostly music classes, and love meeting others who are just like me. We're all crazy passionate about what we do, and I enjoy the material I'm learning.

*My dorm is: small, nice, friendly, loud (girls at 11pm AND 2am...), cozy, mine. My room has slowly but surely become my new "home." That's kind of surreal to me, but I'm glad I'm making myself a home. I live in Houston, Texas. This is my home. (Someday I'll get used to saying that hehe)

*8am classes stink. Especially when you live on the other side of campus..... oh well, a 20 minute walk never killed anybody.

*I went to my first football game ever. Yup, I'm 18, and I had never been to one. (Homeschooled, aaaand, never really gave a darn about sports...sorry ya'll...)

*Whenever I tell people I'm from Alabama, they all go "Bama" in a funny southern accent. Really guys? Is that what we sound like?

*While I don't care for sports, I do love school spirit! (Free t-shirts are fun too). GO COOGS!

*I miss my Alabama family/friends a lot, but I love all the people I'm meeting here! UH (University of Houston) is such a diverse school! My friends consist of mostly music peoples, and people I live with/near.

*I do not care for fire drills at 9pm

*Texas is hot. My face melts when I walk outside (then I freeze whenever I'm indoors, because the AC is always ridiculously high).

*I can't wait for ya'll to visit me ;) You know you want to. <3

I Wouldn't Change

Today's challenge from Life of Love  is to answer this:
What's one thing that you would never change about yourself?

I'm pretty sure every female wants to change something about herself physically, and probably emotionally too.
But I will vanquish my self-deprecation even if just for a moment; I am determined to find the love for myself in this post! Huzzah! ;)

Let's start with physical, because that means less (gotta save the best for last, right?): Something I would never change about myself physically....my smile. I love to share my happiness and general positivity with everyone, and a smile can do so much for someone else. I can love others with a smile, and I can appreciate life with a smile. I just love to be happy!

Which leads into personality; I wouldn't change my love for others. I'm a good friend I think. I always listen, always hug and support and offer what bits of advice I can. Even if I cannot change a situation, I can be there for the people I love. I'm loyal. I'm loving. I try to show love in service and words of affirmation. I know I'm a flawed human being, but I am confident that I can love others. And that's my favorite thing to do :)

My voice recital is in 11 days; yikes! But I'm enjoying practicing every day :) 

I love this beautiful blue topaz ring from my Daddy! (It has matching earrings and a pendant for a necklace; so lovely!!)

My little brother is super cute, especially with those big blue eyes :) He looks a lot like Daddy sometimes, and I have to tell him every day that you're never too old to hug and kiss your big sister ;)

Another gift from Daddy; yeah, this is pretty much everything I love about life XD
