Hop Hop

(Random titles that have nothing to do with your post, awesome right?)

I had a lovely girly night last night with my friend Robynne; we watched "Say Yes To The Dress" (and other girly wedding shows/movies), ate popcorn, perused pinterest, and had way too much fun giggling at life.

Sometimes, we just need to giggle. Laughter is the best medicine, right?

There *is* a time for tears, of course. For me, that time was Thursday. I was sick, and had to leave a voice lesson because of it. Honest to goodness, I called my momma and cried my heart out. I know it's not my *fault* for being sick, and that it isn't the end of the world. But I was tired, and felt weak. I miss home, a lot a lot, and I'm very close to my family. They get me. We're all a little crazy ;)

Laughter and tears both have their place, and sometimes they can be back to back or simultaneous!

These are the thoughts on my mind this Saturday :)

Texas Is Hot

Hello!!!
Can it be? Is it she?

Yes, my friends; I'm posting!
I apologize for the lack of posts; I guess that's what happens when you move and start college. Mamma mia! Life is crazy busy! But I am in love with music, life, and my Lord!

Some quick thoughts (because I do need to get to sleep early, hehe)

*I love being a vocal performance major at the University of Houston Moores School of Music :) I have mostly music classes, and love meeting others who are just like me. We're all crazy passionate about what we do, and I enjoy the material I'm learning.

*My dorm is: small, nice, friendly, loud (girls at 11pm AND 2am...), cozy, mine. My room has slowly but surely become my new "home." That's kind of surreal to me, but I'm glad I'm making myself a home. I live in Houston, Texas. This is my home. (Someday I'll get used to saying that hehe)

*8am classes stink. Especially when you live on the other side of campus..... oh well, a 20 minute walk never killed anybody.

*I went to my first football game ever. Yup, I'm 18, and I had never been to one. (Homeschooled, aaaand, never really gave a darn about sports...sorry ya'll...)

*Whenever I tell people I'm from Alabama, they all go "Bama" in a funny southern accent. Really guys? Is that what we sound like?

*While I don't care for sports, I do love school spirit! (Free t-shirts are fun too). GO COOGS!

*I miss my Alabama family/friends a lot, but I love all the people I'm meeting here! UH (University of Houston) is such a diverse school! My friends consist of mostly music peoples, and people I live with/near.

*I do not care for fire drills at 9pm

*Texas is hot. My face melts when I walk outside (then I freeze whenever I'm indoors, because the AC is always ridiculously high).

*I can't wait for ya'll to visit me ;) You know you want to. <3

Have a lovely weekend!!!
xoxo, alexandra

ps. Here are some pictures to tide you over, since I'm way overdue anyway. <3

Student ID; not super attractive, but it is the magic key to everything!

My first football game! Too bad we lost...boooooo...

Tier One school, booyah!

Where I live!! My tower is the South tower, the one on the right.

View from my room desk. Note the lovey picture in the corner ;)

One of my new friends! This was at the Class of 2016 tailgate

My amazing-voice-teacher's room! I love voice lessons so so much!

It's Ok To Cry...To Feel...

Around the blog world we link up with The Gypsy Mama for Five Minute Friday. The goal is to write for five minutes straight, with no editing or backtracking, and then post.

Today's word:

Ache.

Ready? GO!

I close my eyes tightly and hold my breath. I don't want him to see...to know...but it is so strong, I cannot hide it.
"Are you ok?"
In a whisper...."no...."
He wraps his arms around and merely says "It's ok..it's ok to cry."

"Tell me not to worry about the money please?"
She tells me it's going to be ok, and God has a plan....
my head is so muddled and everything confuses me. I want so badly to take care of it all on my own, but I can't.

Will we ever be friends again? Where is my life going? Will he really stay? Can I do this?

I ache for all pain to go away. But I know God made me to feel. The aching only means I truly love people and that I can care for them. How sad would it be if we felt...nothing?

Trusting in God is the only thing to get me through the fears and the pain. I will admit, however much I don't want to, that I am scared. Scared of losing it all, scared of not making it, scared of the unknown.
But it's all in God's hands.
And with that knowledge and peace.... the aching goes away.

"Since no man knows the future, who can tell him what is to come? -Ecclesiastes 8:7

STOP.

What does the word "Ache" mean for you?

1 Chronicles 16:11 "Seek the Lord and His strength; seek His presence continually."
