New Year, New Me

Hello blogger world!

Boy, I really seem to abandon my little corner, don't I? I will get better and posting regularly, I promise!

I am so excited for 2015! Last year had some good moments, but overall was a truly trying year for me in every aspect of my life. This will be my year to re-become myself again, my year to prosper, my year to become stronger emotionally and physically!

Here are some of the things I am looking forward to :)

*Starting my Jamberry business! (This feels like a very blogger thing to promote!) I will become a consultant for Jamberry and can give ya'll all sorts of deals and such! I'm hosting a facebook party for it right now and will host many more in the future (maybe even some in-person parties!).
For more info check out my current party here!

Aren't these CUTE? Just in time for Valentine's day!

* I will be playing the role of 3rd Lady in Mozart's The Magic Flute at the University of Montevallo in April!

*I will continue my health journey by utilizing the paleo and whole30 lifestyles (a blend of both, still figuring out what my body needs and works well with) so that I can be fit and happy and healthy! I can't wait to do a post on my favorite whole foods recipes :)

*I will read more! I am part of an online book club and it's great! So far I have read "The Fault in Our Stars" and am reading "The Curious Incident of the Dog at Night Time." :) I'm also reading Divergent, and The Fellowship of the Ring.

*I'm taking ballroom dancing at school! It's not a big life choice or anything, but it is quite fun :)

*I will fight for my faith more; I have not found a church in my area that I love or agree with enough to stay put at. I say I can just be with God alone in my house, but I seem to not give Him enough! I'd like to improve in that area.

*I will be *hopefully* selling some of my paintings! I've been starting to spray paint for fun and I really am proud of my work (plus my friends and boyfriend all want their own!) so maybe it would sell?
This was my first ever, I do all sorts of color schemes and sizes though! Gotta love space scenes!

What will 2015 hold for you??
Please let me know if I can hook you up with some Jamberry Nail Wraps or a Space Painting!! :) And may 2015 bring you much joy!

xoxo,
Alexandra Anne

Typing On A Tuesday...

Hello friends!
Do you like my superhero there? This could be me most nights; if I'm tired I often get very very emotional and take everything the wrong way. I've decided that I cannot take life too seriously past 9pm usually. It's helping, haha!

I realized I had not posted about Space City Con. It was so so so much fun!!! I got to meet actors from Babylon5, Game of Thrones, and Buck Rogers in the 25th Century :)

http://www.amazon.com/Babylon-Confidential-Memoir-Love-Addiction/dp/1937856062/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1391560336&sr=1-1&keywords=babylon+confidential

After reading Claudia Christian's amazing book "Babylon Confidential," I started to really respect her as more than a beloved character; this woman overcame so many struggles and is now a counselor for those with alcoholism. She also played one of my favorite characters on one of my favorite tv shows from the 90s. Babylon 5 !!! It was such an amazing show, and a huge part of my childhood/upbringing.
Can you imagine how star struck I felt when I got to MEET and take selfies with one of the main characters???

When I approached the celebrity table where Claudia was hanging out, I honestly didn't know what to say. Maybe I should be thankful for the conversation her assistant/handler started when she tried to get me to buy a copy of Babylon Confidential. I told her I was so sorry but I already had a copy!! ;) I ended up buying her other book, filled with hilarious anecdotes, "My Life with Geeks and Freaks," and the musical makings of the Babylon5 cast called "The Be Five." After a few minutes of conversation with Claudia, she said to me "You know what, I'm gonna throw in a picture because you're such a huge fan of the show." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I told her I was studying music and she wished me luck, and autographed a picture of her character on the show. Holy cow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The photo says "To Alexandra, much luck to you!"

I came back an hour or so later and requested a selfie with her; she is so gracious with her fans, and really really funny. (You should YouTube her panels from conventions, and from space city con, she is a fantastic storyteller!) She was kind and fun to "hang out" with! (For those of you who have never attended a convention like this, most celebrities charge for pictures with fans, but she wasn't about that).

First picture attempt...

She took my ipod and said "let me try, I have long arms!" :) :) :)

Claudia trying on a fan's cape of feathers

"Lift your head up, let's get better light." I love this lady!!

Now, I have to do a teeny little Game of Thrones plug, but honestly; I've never read or seen the show. (GASP, right?) But that made my experience pretty fun. I was waiting in the photo op room (where I got my picture with Buck Rogers, more on that below...) waiting for my picture to print. And in comes Jason Momoa just eating a sandwich and getting ready for his photo op. I got to just chill out near him and the photographers. I also saw the swordmaster from the show, as he was taking pictures with some guys and he autographed their swords. Pretty neat! So yeah, I met some well known celebs... no big deal right?? I didn't get pictures myself just because I didn't want to be a creeper, ha!

Back to Babylon5 (the reason I really came to Space City Con); among the cast of attendees was my favorite ranger from the show, Marcus Cole, played by Jason Carter. He was always funny on the show, and seemed like someone you could be friends with, someone loyal and kind. He is just like this in real life!!!! He still has the hair, it's just slightly grey now ;) Mr. Carter ALSO let me take a picture with him, and he signed my Con program even though I couldn't buy anything from him. He signed it with a stick figure of the ranger, and wrote a Minbari phrase, "Entil'zha!" I was so so excited!!!! I'm going to buy his t-shirt of the stick figure as soon as I get a paycheck, you should too!

So. Buck Rogers. Most people my age haven't even heard of the show (although if you like the show The Guild, Erin Gray guests on it and she was the main female in the 70s series). I definitely HAD to go to the Buck Rogers panel at the Con. Twiki was there too! (So, honestly, I didn't know that in the show the robot named Twiki had an actual human inside...I thought it was real.... *facepalm) So anyway, their panel was super funny; Gil Gerard (who played Buck) and Felix Silla (Twiki) were great together and have been doing these conventions for years and years.

Myself and the wonderful Gil Gerard!
Now, how I got the picture: I was supposed to get a photo op with Claudia, but since I had never been to a con before, I didn't know she had a photo op schedule. Oops!!! But, I got my selfies. Great memories. So, I had this already paid for photo op ticket, but no Claudia (and most of the B5 actors were packing up too). So, I took my ticket to Mr. Gerard, and I am so glad I did! I asked him, super polite and shy and such, "Would you please do this photo op with me?" There wasn't a line or anybody behind me, but he turned to his assistant/handler and said "You got this?" She nodded and he said "Sorry folks, you'll all have to wait!" Haha, he was funny. I said, going along with the joke "I feel so special!" and he turns to me to say "You ARE special, baby." XD
He was such a gentleman and so sweet.
When we were getting ready for the picture, the camera guy had to pause and fix something, and Gil said "It's ok, we'll just hold each other." And he gave me a great embrace. (Fangirl moment!! Eee!!!) We got the picture taken, and he told me I had a great smile. Buck Rogers from the 25th century told me I had a great smile. If meeting Claudia hadn't already made my weekend, seeing him certainly did!

It was a great weekend and I had so much fun!!! I hope to meet these actors again someday, and maybe have more than a college student wallet ;)

Here are some more pictures from the con!!

Tuesday Thoughts

Things on Alexandra Anne's mind today, this lovely Tuesday:

*Wreck It Ralph is a fantastic movie! Even made me cry. Yup, total sap here. No shame. ;)

*I could listen to Lindsey Stirling all day long (see previous post, I kind of am an uber fan girl, to say the least!)

*I miss writing, so I'm gonna try to write more!

*I miss my online/blog friends!

*I need to game more. It's a fact. I'm looking at getting a new laptop (since this one is about 2 1/2 years old and kind of dying on me) aaaaand I'd love a gaming machine. The only gaming I can do is on my boyfriend's gamecube (which he loaned me, best boyfriend everrrr), and the occasional online game that my poor laptop can handle. Not enough for this gamer girl!

*Speaking of best boyfriend ever, two days ago he gave me beautiful red roses. Why? "Because I haven't seen you in a while." SO SWEET AND SPONTANEOUS I LOVE IT!! Seriously. It had been a month since we'd seen each other, so, I doubly appreciated the random flowers. I always do though.

*I recently got a book in the mail that I ordered two weeks ago: The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Ever read it? Something I said once apparently sounded like a quote from it, so I had to get it. It's a tiny little green book so I am looking forward to delving into it during my week at home.

*Spring Break is the best invention ever!! After this week I have 8 weeks left of school...mamma mia, I can do this though! Taking it one week at a time. And that also means only two months til I'm officially a sophomore in college. I'd love for the time to go by quickly, but I do not want to wish my life away. I am grateful for every moment I'm alive!

*I'm allergic to Huntsville, AL. I just sneezed a crap ton. Gross.

*I think I will now write for my own pleasure, because in addition to being a musician, I am a writer :)

Hope your week is great too!

Social Sickie

Time for a linkup! Since I've been sick this weekend, I need to write. What better way than to link up with A Complete Waste of Makeup?
Today's questions are about books, so I'm gonna get my nerd on and let ya'll in on some literature loves of mine :)

1. Favorite childhood book?
I think this one would have to be "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz," and this is still a love of mine. I remember reading it at a young age and always wanting to read more (being homeschooled, this was one of my "assigned" books, but I always did more reading than what was required for that day; I just had to know what was gonna happen next!)

2. Favorite book lately?
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, the second book of the Hunger Games trilogy. This series definitely grabbed me, and this particular book sat well with me and my "political" beliefs (I won't go into THAT on blogworld, but I will say, I am proud to be of voting age this year!!). Oh, and I am "Team" Peeta all the way ;)

3. Book you wish you could live in?
Hehe, NOT Hunger Games. I would love to live in The Phantom Tollbooth. That was such a magical and neat book.

4. If you could be any character from a book who would it be and why?
Any Jane Austen lead female. Those ladies are so very real, and full of flaws, but all end up with happy endings and wonderful men. (I feel like I have the stubborn attitude of Lizzie Bennet sometimes, but also butt into others' business like Emma...hmm).

5. Favorite book turned movie?
Pride and Prejudice, the BBC/Colin Firth version (I love the new one too, but no one captures Mr. Darcy quite as well as Colin Firth. Ohhhhh how we all love Mr. Darcy...especially that

6. Favorite magazines
Oh goodness, I don't really read magazines that much. I like Classical Singer, does that count? If I had to be shallow, I would admit that I do every now and then read InStyle, just because I love the fashion! Oh, and I'll admit to owning 2 or 3 bridal magazines, because every girl dreams of her wedding right? (My little sister, who is 9, once said "Well, I'm not gonna get married. But, I'm gonna plan my wedding, just in case!" Ha!!!)

What books do you love? What are you reading lately? Give me some good suggestions!

Have a great fall week :)

Texas Is Hot

Hello!!!
Can it be? Is it she?

Yes, my friends; I'm posting!
I apologize for the lack of posts; I guess that's what happens when you move and start college. Mamma mia! Life is crazy busy! But I am in love with music, life, and my Lord!

Some quick thoughts (because I do need to get to sleep early, hehe)

*I love being a vocal performance major at the University of Houston Moores School of Music :) I have mostly music classes, and love meeting others who are just like me. We're all crazy passionate about what we do, and I enjoy the material I'm learning.

*My dorm is: small, nice, friendly, loud (girls at 11pm AND 2am...), cozy, mine. My room has slowly but surely become my new "home." That's kind of surreal to me, but I'm glad I'm making myself a home. I live in Houston, Texas. This is my home. (Someday I'll get used to saying that hehe)

*8am classes stink. Especially when you live on the other side of campus..... oh well, a 20 minute walk never killed anybody.

*I went to my first football game ever. Yup, I'm 18, and I had never been to one. (Homeschooled, aaaand, never really gave a darn about sports...sorry ya'll...)

*Whenever I tell people I'm from Alabama, they all go "Bama" in a funny southern accent. Really guys? Is that what we sound like?

*While I don't care for sports, I do love school spirit! (Free t-shirts are fun too). GO COOGS!

*I miss my Alabama family/friends a lot, but I love all the people I'm meeting here! UH (University of Houston) is such a diverse school! My friends consist of mostly music peoples, and people I live with/near.

*I do not care for fire drills at 9pm

*Texas is hot. My face melts when I walk outside (then I freeze whenever I'm indoors, because the AC is always ridiculously high).

*I can't wait for ya'll to visit me ;) You know you want to. <3

Have a lovely weekend!!!
xoxo, alexandra

ps. Here are some pictures to tide you over, since I'm way overdue anyway. <3

Student ID; not super attractive, but it is the magic key to everything!

My first football game! Too bad we lost...boooooo...

Tier One school, booyah!

Where I live!! My tower is the South tower, the one on the right.

View from my room desk. Note the lovey picture in the corner ;)

One of my new friends! This was at the Class of 2016 tailgate

My amazing-voice-teacher's room! I love voice lessons so so much!

Sunday Evening

I think I've been hiding from my blog...could it be Blogger's Block? (Yup, I just made that up). I mean, I've been on my laptop a good bit, and certainly read other blogs a lot! I just haven't been up to writing a post myself.
Well. No more. I have things to share with my lovelies!

First off.....
I am now "strawberry blonde" :) (Formerly...blonde... oh yes, I am oh so daring, aren't I?)
(Here's a pic from my senior recital last Sunday; very blonde there =P)

I'm reading this! :) Super neat for me because it takes place in Naples, Italy, and sometimes the author uses Italian phrases that I can translate. Then I get all giddy inside.

I'm enjoying my new (used) ipod! I put some old cd's on my iTunes today. Oh, and you can see I what I was listening to during dinner.... Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Mhmmm)

While I am not moving for 3 1/2 more weeks, I AM trying to decide what I need to pack. So, I have begun the packing experiment. I will "live out of my suitcase" for a few weeks, and figure out what I actually will wear, etc. (Plus, I'm just way excited about school! Spent all morning on UH's website, figuring out every little detail I could)

I really really really want this. Erin Condren life planner. This one would match my room ;) Because...I can totally justify spending $50 on a day planner, right? *nod*

What are you loving this week?

xoxo, Alexandra Anne

By the way....it's ok!

Hey ya'll. Found another linkup, and I quite like it! Yay for positive reinforcement! :)

Today I am convinced that it's ok:

To dance like a dork while cleaning my room
To wear my new ring from my daddy on my ring finger (haha, I don't care if it looks like I'm engaged, I promise I'm not!)
To love completely without falter
To be in love with opera
To argue with my family about who gets to read a new book in our house first ;) (nerdy family means scrounge for new lit!)
To be slightly obsessed with instagram ;)
To have too many shoes (but what girl has just the right amount of shoes anyway?)
To already have a bag for Houston even though it's 6 weeks away
To be sad about friendships ending
To celebrate the love I see every day
To be obsessed with coffee ;)
To totally jam out to orchestral music
To ask for God's forgiveness :) (He DOES forgive! isn't that great?)

<3
