Puddles

*Drip. Drop.* The rain has left remnants of its visit. Deep lakes are disturbing my regular path. Our group tiptoes around the puddles, so as not to get wet.

But the child in me wants to JUMP right in and SPLASH a rainfall of my own.

Society says no...

The crowd is quiet in a hall, not daring to speak up against a wrong. I long to scream at the top of my lungs.

The crowd says no...

This *isn't* what God calls us to be! We are supposed to be loud for Him! He doesn't call us to be a bunch of indifferent lemmings.... why do we follow society's standards? Why do we not speak our hearts, and only say what the crowd has taught us?

"Shout, and sing for joy!" -Isaiah 12:6

"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you." -Deuteronomy 31:6

"Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men..." -Colossians 3:23

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."- Romans 12:2

Let's live these words this week, and SHOUT for our Lord! :)

in Him,

Prayer

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express." -Romans 8:26

I have come to the realization that for a while now, I have not been a good witness or even a good Christian. My faith is not where I need or even want it to be. See, I get in this pattern with God, which starts with my stubbornness, then I hide from Him, and He has to drag me out by the ears to get me to listen.

Well, I would like you to hold me accountable! "Alexandra Anne, how's your faith today?" I need to have a better answer than "well....God is good and all." I need to be shouting for joy about my Savior! I need to talk to God! Yeah; simple as that!  Well, not so simple, since I seem to avoid it like a child avoids medicine. But His words are healing, and true, and full of love. Yes, there are sometimes consequences, and yes, sometimes it's not going to be fun.
But He died for us. For me.

This is how I show gratitude?
Nope. I'm spitting in His face. I'm a hypocrite.

Corrie Ten Boom once said "Don't pray when you feel like it. Have an appointment with the Lord, and keep it."

So, I'm using this blog as a stepping stone. I would like to pray for you. If I have a regular prayer list, that will be a huge important step! You can comment, or send me a private message, whatever works for you; but I want to pray for you. It could be something as simple as "I hope I can run 3 miles today," to something as difficult as "Please pray for my friend who has cancer." No prayer is too big or too small.
Did you know God watches out for even the tiniest sparrow? Then of course He's watching out for you!

"He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men, yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end." Ecclesiastes 3:11

Please. Let me pray for you. <3

"Commit to the Lord whatever you do and all your plans will succeed." -Proverbs 16:3

PS. My verse for this week is of a prodigal-son nature: "Let us carefully examine our ways, and let us return to the Lord." -Lamentations 3:40

Those Moments

I am so blessed by the people in my life; including you wonderful readers! Thank you all for the comments about reaching 10 months :) I spent the day with the boyfriend yesterday, and it was a lovely time. It's so funny to look back to 10 months ago; I said yes to a stalker on facebook (it's not as bad as it sounds hehe). Little did I know I'd be *this* happy. God is good.
The night I met boyfriend- August, 2008

The reason he asked me out ;)

Night he met Mom, Jessika, and Jarrod :)
July 22, 2012 :) Look at us now!

God is also so so good by providing me the friends He needs me to have, and providing me the education I need. A year ago He opened my heart, in a whole new way, to opera. I'm so excited to go to school on a partial music scholarship; I'm getting paid to study music? Thank you, Jesus!

It's not always easy, especially because I am thoroughly attached to my ways and don't like change, but this journey of mine is so neat. Each of us is on a unique journey, and that is wonderful. My journey is filled with opera, rifles, writing, dancing, loving, and lots of hugs ;)

What gets me through this crazy life? Today is filled with music and timeless scripture. <3

"God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect." -Hebrews 11:40

"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." -Jeremiah 29:11

"My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." -Psalm 73:26

"If you're goin through hell keep on movin, face that fire; walk right through it. You might get out before the devil even knows you're there."- Rodney Atkins

New music on my ipod:
Lindsey Stirling- Phantom of the Opera Medley
Two Steps From Hell- Archangel (whole album)
Lindsey Stirling- Shadows
Demi Lovato- Give Your Heart A Break

Have a good weekend ya'll!

Where Has Last July Gone?

Top 10 Tuesday-

Last day of the month- yikes! This means we're entering a huge month for me; I'm about to move to Houston! Eeeeeee! (That eeeee involves many emotions...I can't quite explain them all ;) )

I'd like to share some Top 10 Loves with ya'll :)

1. Give Your Heart A Break by Demi Lovato- I am loving this song, and listening to it way way way too much.

2. Felicity- did you used to watch that show? My mom did, when I was little. Now I'm of the college age, so I've been watching it a lot this week (I've been sick, tv time has increased).

3. Apples. Granny smith, if you please. They're kind of my favorite, especially sauteed in olive oil and cinnamon. YUM.

4. Pizza. Tonight is pizza night, and I am super stoked. Like, it's jump around crazy stoked. I'm 2 years old and just got my pony. It's that serious, ya'll.

5. Emails from friends- especially the super long ones that catch me up :) I love getting flooded with emails, I feel loved. (My love languages in order are: quality time and words of affirmation, then physical touch).

6. Houston! Super excited to move, for classes, to make new friends, to travel again, to get out of this house (sorry, I'm getting cabin-fever), to be a student with the wonderful Hector Vasquez (just got confirmation of my music major status yesterday, I grinned so so much), etc!

7. Diet Mountain Dew. It's probably terrible for me, but it gives me the fizz and caffeine I need desire

8. Red nail polish- it's summer, so I like to go crazy with cool colors.

9. Scripture- my verse-a-day on my phone's bible app really really helps me out! It's a great way to start the day, and gets my heart in the right place.

10 Pictures of loved ones! My grandmama sent me the pics from my recital :) Have a great week ya'll! Enjoy some pictures ;)

My siblings chillin outside :)

That I am moving to Houston in 5 weeks
That I no longer know the name of my future roommate
That I open up to new friends quickly (God is pretty awesome)
That I love completely and wholeheartedly
That I dance in the car exactly like my Daddy
That I love linkups
That I made paleo-friendly muffins last night and have already eaten three
That I have a senior recital in 3 days!!!
That I am slowly but surely growing in my scripture dedication
That I am a lover :)

In Italian, we say "Va Bene." It's all good. It's ok.
Verse of the day:

And Compliments

Last day of the 15-day Challenge. I know I didn't do all 15 days, but I've had fun with the days I did do!

Today's challenge is: What's the best compliment you've ever received.

I've heard it in different phrasings depending on who has spoken to me, but the best thing would probably be when someone tells me God has great plans for me and that I'm going to succeed. It's not just because they think I have talent, but they truly believe in God's glorious plan! I am so grateful and humbled to be part of that :)

"'For I know the plans I have for you', says the Lord. 'Plans to prosper you and not to harm you'."

Have a great week ya'll!! <3

Xoxo,
Alexandra Anne

PS. Let me know if you'd like to do a guest post sometime :) And keep an eye out for Emily's post next Sunday!

Prego Tutti

Welcome All!
I am back in blogland.

In the almost month since I last wrote I have had quite a whirlwind month! I graduated high school, decided on a college, sung in my final group recital, made new friends, reconnected with some old friends, and fallen more in love with my savior Jesus Christ.

Graduation was truly a worship service; this is possible when you're homeschooled ;) I was blessed with a lovely ceremony full of homeschoolers and their friends and families. I am so grateful that my parents were able to educate me not only at home, but all over the world! (Virginia, Rhode Island, North Carolina, Alabama, England, Scotland, Italy, to name just a few places my education has taken me...) I also met many new friends, who were also graduates! Ha! But they were a lovely group of students, and we are all on our own individual journeys that God has guided us towards!

That leads me to my next piece of news: God finally revealed to me where I need to be at school this year!
I will be a vocal performance major at the University of Houston Moores School of Music :) I am so blessed by this news!!! A year ago I fell passionately in love with opera, while studying in Italy, and God spoke very clearly to me. He told me to go study music at a collegiate level. This is all very exciting.....and scary! It's a very open-ended command, you see. Go to school? Great! In music? YIKES! But I will honor the gifts and passions He gave me. Whether I end up singing professionally, or becoming a music theory teacher, or a conductor, or a composer, He will be glorified! I don't know where I will end up going, but it is an adventure. A journey I am excited to take! This past year has taken me all over the world, and I have grown in music and in faith. I have learned to trust Him in everything. EVERYTHING.

Know what else is amazing about God? Prayer is SO very powerful; He answers!!! It might sound corny or cheesy, but it is 100% the truth! I had to give up everything to God to discover His will, and I am so glad I did. He is totally worth it =)

That's my journey so far!
This summer will consist of preparing for college, learning music, reading (see upcoming post on that on Wednesday!), and growing closer to my wonderful Lord.

What's going on in your journey?

"Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." -Matthew 7:13-14
